COLOR: Paint Project

Ok so I love to find coupons and find the best deals on things!  I learned by watching my mom when I was growing up that you don't have to buy things at the full price and in fact you are always happier when you don't!  Things come and go, so why buy them at full price when they will just be lowered in a few weeks?  Oh and we have this little fun game we played and I have continued to my family, where we say  "is this $30.00 worth" or so forth on the amount something costs? Keeps me in check and makes me think before I spend!  I only buy things we really need and sometimes want but that are worth the cost we pay!

Here is the real deal of this post....I LOVE to do interior decorating!  And I have not been happy with the color of our dresser for a really long time.  So I came across free paint coupons! Yes, I did say FREE!  So we went to our local hardware store. The one and only in my mind, Lowes! Ok so I just love Lowes if we have to be in a store with so much masculine flair.

We picked this fabulous color and are in the process of painting and redoing our dresser! More pictures coming soon!

P.S. I LOVE color!

See the nasty color on the wood under the paint?!  Yes, that is our dresser! I defiantly think it needs a little TLC! Agree? ;)

Happy 25th Birthday Mr. Roylance!

We got to celebrate Daniel's 25th Birthday down in St. George with the Taylor side of the family and we had lots of fun!  I worked really hard to make his favorite cake and frost it!  Which is his grandma Hoths carrot cake and it is certainly delicious!  Even if my arms felt like they were going to fall off during it and after due to pain, it was worth it to see his smiling face!  Life isn't easy when you are consistently in pain.  But the little moments of happiness and the days spent celebrating others make living worth it.  I am so grateful to have Mr. Roylance who is always there to lift me up and help me keep going!  I could celebrate my husband every day of my life and honestly if you could be a fly on the wall of our home, you'd know that's exactly what we do!! For his birthday we watched Cool Running's, went with the whole family to Red Robin for his birthday dinner, and then watched a little performance called Forever Plaid!  A big day of fun to celebrate the man I love!  Happy Birthday baby! You are the best husband I could have ever dreamed up! :) Can't wait to see what this year holds for us!

Birthday sign Alexea and I made!  Eric blew up the balloons for me since I can't breathe well and put them up! Thanks Eric!

My handsome man with the Carrot Cake I made and decorated!  In my past life, I loved decorating cakes!  And by the way he loved his cake and so did everyone else!

All the family celebrating at Red Robin..can you say yummmm?!

Late night cake and present time!  Where I come from we like to spoil the ones we love! :)

Our home is a home of manners and compliments!

I've thought a lot about why we have such a loving relationship between Daniel and I!

First off, we just adore one another and put each first!  We put the Lord before us and we love one another unconditionally!  Beyond these needed and wonderful things, there is so much more to our home.  Two of the things that I think make a huge difference are manners and compliments!

Mr. Roylance and I work extra hard to always compliment each other and bring one another up!  There is not a day or even hour that goes by in our home that we don't take the time to say something kind about one another!  It lightens our life and helps each one of us to understand how much we are loved and needed, even if that's only within the walls of our home!  We have purpose together, we know who we are, and we know that together we can do anything!  This is something we really have worked on through out our lives and have gotten even better at in our life together.

I just hope people can still realize how it important it is to compliment and lift everyone up, no matter where you are or who you are talking with!

Now, manners are a huge issue in my mind.  It amazes me how many people just have thrown them out the door!  For example, I get an awesome gift from someone or someone does something nice for me and I say thank you and really express to them the joy from receiving and they do not say a word.  Or when driving down the road you let someone in front of you and they instead zoom on up and cut you off without even a nod or a simple wave.   Or you take a few extra moments to do a simple kind act, such as holding the door open, they walk by you as if you were meant to be a door stop.  It's SO sad! I have so many examples up my sleeve and if I could change the way people thought about having manners and expressing gratitude I sure would do it!

But since i'm just one person, I will vow to keep going each day spreading kindness, compliments and manners!  That way I am making the difference I want to see/be in the world!

Manners in our home are everything!  A constant on going around here.  If someone does something nice we make sure to say thank you or if we need help, we say please!  No matter how big or small the things done are, kind words are used and welcomed here!
Common words: You're Welcome, May I, Words of Affirmation, Please, Thank You, Can I help you, What can I do for you,

What have doing these simple things done you may ask?!  Just to name a few....

1. Brings Harmony!
2. All the little things are noticed and things are not just expected.
3. Keeps us humble!
4. Keeps us kind!
5. Helps up look outside ourselves!
6. We become more loving!
7. Trust is built.
8. Extra kind words are said.
9. Loyalty!
10. Friendship!
11. Builds Respect!

Kindness is contagious!  How about we pay it forward?  It's never too late to start something again!

Thanks Mr. Roylance for contributing to a home of kindness, manners and compliments, it makes a world of difference and it has really kept us strong!  Love you!

Family Night #1: Peace

Monday's Family Night Week #1:  PEACE and being a PEACEMAKER

(Side Note: We have decided to start sharing our family nights with you!  Enjoy)

I think we all seek peace in this life.  We each face challenges that seem defeating, disabling, and down right rotten!  So as some of you know, Daniel and I have been going through a rather large humongous ever so hard and defeating challenge for almost a year and a half now, so when I came across the topic of peace it stood out to me.  As we studied peace together we came to realize just how vital our Savior is to us finding the peace we desire.  With him we can do all things because he has overcome the world and he is better than the world he created!  Without him, we will seek peace in this world that will never be true peace, it will be peace for a moment but with time (maybe even a short time) it will leave.  He has taught us that he is the light of the world, that if we will follow him he will give us peace, he will give us rest from all the heart ache and sorrow.  Let us lay our burdens before him and use his gracious gift of the atonement in our lives!  Let us let him in!

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." (John 14:26-27)

" These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." (John 16:33)

Here is a wonderful talk that really helped us this week and taught us some great things!  If you yourself are seeking to find peace, even if just for a moment in your day, please take time to read this.  The link is below and some of the talk is right here for you.

The Atonement Can Secure Your Peace and Happiness
RICHARD G. SCOTT
Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles

" In real life, the anchors are the laws of God that provide protection under all of the challenges that you will face. The rope and carabiners that secure the rope to the anchors represent obedience to those commandments. When you learn those commandments, continue to practice them, and have a plan to avoid danger, you will have a secure means of obtaining protection against Satan’s temptations. You will develop strength of character that will fortify you against transgression. Should you make a wrong move, there need be no enduring problem because of the belaying or help that is available through your repentance.

Let the Savior be your “lead” in life. He has said, “I am … the Rock of Heaven … ; whoso cometh in at the gate and climbeth up by me shall never fall.” 1 The Redeemer will safely lead you over the most difficult obstacles of life. His laws are absolutely secure anchors of protection that dispel fear and assure success in an otherwise dangerous world. Such a life will certainly provide you peace and happiness.

True, enduring happiness, with the accompanying strength, courage, and capacity to overcome the greatest difficulties, will come as you center your life in Jesus Christ. Obedience to His teachings provides a secure ascent in the journey of life. That takes effort. While there is no guarantee of overnight results, there is the assurance that, in the Lord’s time, solutions will come, peace will prevail, and happiness will be yours.

The challenges you face, the growth experiences you encounter, are intended to be temporary scenes played out on the stage of a life of continuing peace and happiness. Sadness, heartache, and disappointment are events in life. It is not intended that they be the substance of life. I do not minimize how hard some of these events can be. When the lesson you are to learn is very important, trials can extend over a long period of time, but they should not be allowed to become the confining focus of everything you do. Your life can and should be wondrously rewarding. It is your understanding and application of the laws of God that will give your life glorious purpose as you ascend and conquer the difficulties of life. That perspective keeps challenges confined to their proper place—stepping-stones to further growth and attainment.

The Lord is intent on your personal growth and development. Your progress is accelerated when you willingly allow Him to lead you through every growth experience you encounter, whether you welcome the experience or not. Trust in the Lord. Ask to be led by the Spirit to know His will. Be willing to accept it. You will then qualify for the greatest happiness and the heights of attainment from this mortal experience.

Peace and happiness are the precious fruits of a righteous life. They are only possible because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I will explain."

I know that our Savior lives and loves us!  He is the way!  He is the light in  the darkness.  He carries us if we ask him too.  Let us humble ourselves and let him in!  He loves us and knows us perfectly! I know this is true because I have witnessed it in my everyday life since I was just a little baby.  He is everything to me and everything to my family!  Let his love fill your heart and his peace fill your soul.

Denver Broncos Vs. Baltimore Ravens 1/12/13

Sarah and I watched the Broncos game last Saturday and let me tell you, man did that one hurt.  Football games are usually pretty long.  Almost four hours watching one game is a tough pill to swallow.  Now get this.  This game went to double overtime!!! It was also not one of those games where you watch off and on, rather one that you want to sit and watch every minute of.  The last quarter and a half were especially intense.  Unfortunately, the Broncos ended up on the losing side and we ended up stressed out and had headaches from worrying so much.

In the end,  I still love the Broncos and it is even more special to watch them with my lovely wife!

We never need give up, there is always something to hold on to, whether that is our Savior, our family, our spouse, a creation, a home over our heads, being employed, food on our table, a book that brings us excitement, a blanket that comforts us, a child , a hobby, or someone you enjoy seeing smile.
Keep holding on!
Now that is not saying we can't have hard moments or bad days, weeks, or months,  and feel like we can't go forward. We can have a down right lousy day or cry or show emotion because things are hard and get overwhelming!  Trust me I know they can!  It's just that when we do, let us remember the little things that keep us holding on.  Because I've learned that even when things get extremely hard and it seems as though everything has been taken from you, there are still blessings to be found and joy to be had!
Even if it's in the small and simple things!
